About Krista
Krista A. Schultz, MEd, is a former professional athlete who turned her passion for sport into an impressive health and fitness career that has spanned over two decades. After success as a Division I Track and Cross-Country runner at the University of New Orleans, Krista’s athletic journey shifted to triathlon, where she ultimately competed in the prestigious IRONMAN Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
- Finishing 2nd in her age group at IRONMAN® China,
- Representing the State of Maryland for the Best of the U.S. Triathlon Championship for 3 years in a row,
- Achieving USA Triathlon All-American status multiple times,
- Competing in the Switzerland Duathlon World Championship, and
- Winning the Galesburg Half Marathon.
Krista’s exceptional athletic background serves as a solid foundation for her current role as a health and fitness consultant, where she leverages her extensive experience and leadership skills with sports performance and holistic well-being for her clients.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Krista brings a wealth of diverse professional experiences from medical, education, and fitness fields. Highlights of her experience include:
- Working closely with the Johns Hopkins physical therapy staff, she gained valuable insights into injury prevention and rehabilitation;
- As a strength and conditioning coach at Towson University, she honed her skills in optimizing athletic performance and building strength;
- Her role as an assistant Track and X-Country Coach at Goucher College provided her with valuable coaching experience, nurturing the talent and potential of young athletes;
- Building a successful metabolic testing business, she tested the performance parameters of countless athletes to provide valid, reliable, and tailored recommendations to help them optimize their performance and achieve their goals;
- As the Education Program Manager at TriMed, Inc., she managed the company’s product education and learning platforms. With many product trainings to her credit, Krista showed her exceptional ability to deliver quality results within high-stakes environments;
- She served as a Mako Product Specialist at Stryker, assisting surgeons during joint replacement surgeries;
- As an endurance sports coach and nutrition consultant, she has helped many athletes and non-athletes achieve success through coaching, consulting, clinics, seminars, performance testing, and camps.
Krista holds a Master of Education degree in Athletic Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She maintains a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the NSCA and is a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach. In addition, she has written articles for magazines like Triathlete Magazine and Runners World. She recently authored a book chapter on triathlon training in the textbook Developing Endurance. She also founded the She Does Tri for Women community, which focuses on helping females achieve confidence through health and fitness.
Krista’s commitment to an integrative approach to health and wellness is deeply rooted in her upbringing. As the second of seven siblings, she observed her father’s work as a family medicine physician, who instilled in her the importance of taking a holistic view of one’s well-being.
